console problem from windows 7 using usb to serial adapter

I am not able to console from Windows 7 machine to Cisco ASA 5500 firewall (or any other Cisco device) using a USB to serial adapter. Please share your thoughts if you have experienced same problem earlier and any help. Thanks.
