control panel not remember “icon” view

I’m using XP Pro SP1.

I have opened the control panel and under view selected icons rather than list (all my other folders are in list view). For some reason Control Panel keeps losing this setting. Sometimes it remembers ocrrectly for a few openings, but it always reverts back to list view after a reboot.

Any suggestions how to fix this little bug?
