converting from 10/100 mbps

by epait . Updated 25 years, 3 months ago

I run a small Lan (35 people) at A CPA office. I am using a Novell 5.0 server and a TCP/IP connection to A GW 5.5 server in another location. Due to all the pull on the server for Tax based software I have considered upgrading any 10 mbps nic cardsto 100 mbps and replacing my 2 hubs to 3 com switches with a built in VPN. We have another office with 14 people running a Novell 4.1 server that would also be switched. The offices are not connected. I am planning on implemented a Citrix server with a WAN between offices. My question is…. Is it worth the price to change to switches and 100 mbps nic cards? I have researched the 3COM switches (superstack)and they are about $1500 (would need 3 switches.. 2 for my office and 1 for the other). The total not including purchasing new NIC cards would be $4500. I would appreciate any insight to making this upgrade. (some of my nic cards do support 100mbps)

thanks,
Rob (CNE5)
