Copy info to a CD-R

I’m tring to copy my downloads, pictures,video or music to a CD-R. I can’t seem to figure out what I need to do or have to be able to copy any info to a CD-R.I added a DVD drive to my computer. Can I put a CD-R disk into this drive and copy info onto it? I thought all computers had the ability to copy.
