Cracking Linux password

I’ve recently taken over an IT support spot at a new company. The former person had created an inventory of all the hardware, etc and placed it on a machine running linux. Since they have left, they have not answered emails about the old passwords.

So I am trying to find a way to get the passwords for the OCSInventory program that runs on mysql under Linux. I haven’t found many sites that can help crack linux passwords, but plenty for Windows.

Any help would be appreciated.
