CRASH

Something happened to my pc. It locked up, then restarted and went to a completely black screen. I could see my mouse icon, but nothing else and when I clicked anything on my keyboard, I got a beep. I tried MULTIPLE times to resteart in safe mode to no avail. Cannot ctrl/alt/del or esc into any other start up mode. Now I can see the background on my desktop, but no icons and no way to get anywhere. When I press ctrl/alt/del and hold all three buttons down, I get the hour glass as though it is working and then NOHTING. Please if you have any suggestions, I am willing to try antything at this point.
