Creatiuve modem blaster usb disconnect

I hve recently had to replace my Creative Modem Blaster USB with another of the same type after it stopped picking up the dial tone. The replacement modem however picks up the tone fine, connects but then disconnects either immediatley or after a couple of minutes.

I replaced the replacement with another modem blaster in case it was faulty, but I get the same problem.

I did not have this problem with the old modem at all
