Cyberdrive 52X CD-Rom – Hardware Instal

Somehow lost my CDrom functionality. CDRom inaccessible was highlighted.So checked Win98se Add Hardware section to find out.Cdrom not detected. Did manual search for CDROM. Alo! No Installation disk!!!
Checked Cyberdrive website. Driver not needed,as Windows has one for ATAPI.

Checked bios on M/board.Ticked HDD as master, Cdrom as slave.

Above came to square one again. My system …
Asus K7V-RM Slot A M/Board, Athlon 600 CPU.
Can anyone help?? Also,I wish to upgrade to faster AMD cpu.Any suggestion as there are so many out there.
