DATABASE SYSTEM

we are currently planning our database system. If we have 2 million data on our database system and that is increasing..what factors should we consider so that in the next 5 to 10 years we will have no problem in our querying. our plan is to make itby SQL server in MS win2k advanced server…do we need load balancers? more than one server and vault storage? does the network speed will affect the performance? thanks a lot
