Dating Tips for Geeks

After some discussion in another thread on a totally unrelated subject (https://www.techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.html?forumID=102&threadID=274994&messageID=2605889), Tiggie-poo recommended that we have a discussion on Geek Dating Tips, relationships and all manner of interpersonal relationships.

So here we go. After 8 years here, I think I can share this lil tale of relationship disaster:

This is a true story…

Remember when they used to put that on TV Movies of the week, but I digress…

I was once dating this lady.

And being the thoughtful and romantic kind of guy that I was, I let myself get talked into buying her some lingerie by one of her friends. Said friend told me that lady liked corsets and had this secret desire to play out an entire romantic fantasy scene ala pre-French Revolution period.

So, being inspired by visions of a happy lady in my life, I took myself down to said specialty store and bought a corset. I even took one of her bras to make sure I got the correct size.

When I gave her the gift later that weekend after a nice dinner, which I cooked, she made the comment, “That’s too small for me.” When I stated that I had taken one of her bras and made sure by pestering the sales lady several times, she quickly let me know that she wasn’t happy with me by suddenly developing a headache and going to bed.

Feeling rather rejected, later the next week, I made the comment, “Why look at the new show on the schedule dear. It’s Wonder Woman and she is wearing a corset. It must fit, look at that huge smile she has.”

This apparently made her angry as I later awakened to find my head encased in at what I first took to be a lace fringed bag, but soon realized was the aforementioned corset.

Soon afterwards, we stopped dating.

So the lessons which I learned from this event are:

Don’t trust what her friends tell you as they might not always be right.

Don’t assume that just cause she wears a certain size bra that the same size corset will fit.

Don’t tell a woman that Lynda Carter looks good on TV in a corset.

And NEVER, EVER sleep with a person that might turn lingerie into an impromptu straight jacket for your head.
