DBPROCESS Error Message

I am getting a message on a couple of machines, displaying DBPROCESS is dead or not enabled. Out of 50 machines on the network, there are only two with this problem. They connect to a SQL2000 database, with a Powerbuilder front-end. Has anyone come across this error before and what is the solution?
