dcdiag error

When I run dcdiag on our domain controller I receive a message saying that the server holding the PDC role is down. But if I check in Active Directory it lists the domain controller holding the PDC role. Is there a way to fix this?
Not to long ago we went from having two DC’s to demoting one, we switched all the roles at the time and shut down the other server. Could this be the problem?
