The story is as below:

I just setup a machine acting as single
domain controller in the a domain ). The DC
doesn’t have DNS server installed on it (as MS recommended) nor any
internal DNS server. WINS is installed. Since the setup, the DC can let all servers log into the domain.
But I am worry about some errors which appears so many in System log. They are all related dns issues (ID 5775, 5774 with
source Netlogon). The error says “Registration of the DNS record
‘_kerberos.udp.kolsc4.kanaonlene.com . 600 IN SRV 0 100 88 x.x.com’ failed with the following error: DNS server unable to interpret format.”

So my question is… Is it ok to have a w2000 domain running wihtout DNS server installed while WINS are running on the server? Or any opionions that someone seen this before, please provide.
