Dell 2800 Server RAID 1 and 10

by internetranking . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

I have a Dell 2800 server with PERC4 e/di onboard RAID controller. I wanted to know if it is possible to build the following configuration:

Disk Array Drive 0,1,2,3 (RAID 1): Logical Drives C: / D:
Operating System
Swap file
SQL Code
Application Code
SQL Databases

Disk Array Drive 4,5,6,7 (RAID 10): Logical Drive E:
SQL Databases

There are currently 8 146GB drives in the server with a RAID 5 configuration.

When using the Dell Installation and Server Management Disc it will allow me to configure a max. of 2 drives for RAID 1 only.

Do I need to wipe out the current RAID array to get the desired setup? I have all the data that I wanted from the current configuration and want to start with a fresh install.

Thanks for any help on this topic.
