Dell E153fp

Hi,
I have a dell E153FP and I cannot changes the screen to 800×600 16 bit. It won’t let me change the properties on monitor type it just says default monitor.Also everytime I apply it resets to 640×480 with 16 bit. How do i change it and keep it?
