Dell Inspiron 5100 LCD software issue

As of Wednesday, my LCD screen has decided to go black after Windows loads. I can see the start-up screen just fine and am currently typing a-la safe mode. At first, I was able to ‘trick’ my LCD into working by shutting my laptop (putting it in hibernation) and then re-opening it to ‘wake’ it up. That trick has stopped working as of Friday. I recently reformatted (2 weeks ago) and have been re- installing software here and there. I uninstalled the most recent installations and restored my system to the monday before the problems began. Does anyone have ideas on what may be going on? I feel its a software issue since I’m not having screen problems now.. Thanks for your help in advance!
