Dell Optiplex 745 USB Port Problems

We role out Dell Optiplex 745 from a W2K3 server using remote image, running XP Pro SP2.

What we have discovered is, that if 2 devices share a USB channel they don’t work until unplugged and plugged back in again.

Even if the K/B & Mouse are on the same channel one or neither will work until reinserted.

We used to have the same problem with HP DC7600 until HP released a MB chipset update!

Sometimes by repeated reinsertion, and using different channels, this seems to ‘clear’ the issue and everything can then be on the same channel – but there seems to be no logic process to this, just luck!

Any ideas?
