I recently started working for a health clinic, they have a few servers, one of them a Dell PowerEdge 600SC that they used to use as a DVR for their surveillance system. I decided to build a separate computer to act as a DVR and leave the 600SC to be a file server. I installed MS SBS Server 2003 OEM, but am having a major problem. The server keeps randomly shutting down. This is what I have done so far:
– Replaced 300Watt power supply with a 380Watt.
– Checked CPU temp, avg 105F.
– Dusted inside of server, it was not too
dirty.
– Checked for physical damage to internal
components.
– Disabled windows feature that prevents server
from shutting down in the even of system
failure.
System Specs:
* Single Intel Pentium 4 processor 2.40 GHz
* 533.3 MHz Front Side Bus
* ServerWorks Grand ChampionTM SL chipset
* 1 GB ECC DDR SDRAM
* 1 150GB Hard Drive (hosts OS)
* 2 500GB Hard Drives, Mirrored (Shared
drive)
I should Add:
We have a total of 3 servers:
One is running MS Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1 (it hosts our EMR and it is not in the domain)
The other is running MS Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2. This is our domain controller and DNS server.
I now know what exactly happened, there is a child domain trust on our domain controller to a child domain that no longer exists. SBS does not support turst interactions. I need to know how to remove this trust.
I have tried the adsiedit.msc gui utility and the ntdsutil command line utility. Neither worked, I am getting the following error message: “The requested domain could not be deleted because there exist domain controller that still host this domain”
*There are no domain controllers hosting this domain.
Anyone know how to forcefully delete it?
Any ideas?
