Desktop Icons

Every so often W98 resets my desktop icon arrangement. It is storing some config somewhere, and the one it is storing is wrong. I arrange icons my way and they stay that way for a day or two or a week or two and then suddenly they are back to the old arrangement. How do I make this stop happening?
