I’m having some issues with my Windows Server 2003 DFS share.
When I type:
\\domain\share\
It takes 4 minutes to open a Word Document.
When I type:
\\servername\
It takes about 2 seconds to open the same document.
It seems to happen on every computer I’ve tested though those are primarily Vista machines. I did test it on 1 XP computer with similar results. In Windows 7 beta it seems to open properly though. It takes about 10 seconds instead of 2.
Doesn’t seem to be any DNS issues and currently it appears as if there is no Replication policies in place.
I didn’t setup the DFS share and am a bit unfamiliar with them but I’m supporting it now so I’m not sure where to look. Most of the similar issues which I’ve Googled seem to be specific issues which don’t apply to my setup.
Any help would be appreciated.
