I recently installed Simply accounting on 2 windows XP sp2 machines. Simpy accounting has a Connexion manager that is supposed to run automatically, but for some reason the DHCP client is blocking it. The only way to get it working is to disable the DHCP client, then start the connexions manager, then re-start the DHCP client.
The problem is that the people working on the machines do not have administrative rights, and cannot be given administrative rights, so they can’t do this. Simply accounting has told me that this is the only option.
I am thinking that a possible solution is to disable the DHCP client on those machines, and give them static IP addresses. These machines are never connected to the internet, they only connect to our internal setwork.
Also, I installed the software on a Dell laptop running on Windows XP as well, and have had no problems.
My questions are:
1- Can this work, or will disabling the DHCP make the users unable to connect to the network
2- How do I find out what static IP addresses I can give these machines (is there somewhere I can look on the Windows server?)
