Hello TechRepublic. I recently started to get warnings pop up in the Windows Event Viewer which causes me to have a mini disconnects multiple times a day.
I am using Windows 7 SP1 64 bit (if it matters).
The warning is as follows:
Level: Warning
Source: Dhcp-Client
Event ID: 1003
Task Category: Address Configuration State Event
General: Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0xLAN_MAC_HERE. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
Every time I get this warning, exactly 30 minutes after it I disconnect for a few seconds. Then generally exactly 1 hour after I get the originally warning, I may get another one, in which exactly 30 minutes after that I disconnect again. It doesn’t happen all the time, but when it starts happening it generally happens for at least a few times in a row.
I tried disabling IPv6 and swapping out my ethernet cable.
The error started about 3 weeks ago roughly (before that I never had this issue). After about 2 weeks of having the issue and being unable to solve it, I formatted my computer. After formatting my computer the problem disappeared completely for about 5 days, and so far has been reappearing for the last 2 days.
I thought It was my router or something else causing it but my brother’s computer never gets this problem (and I never used to).
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing it? I haven’t installed anything in the last few days as well. I basically installed everything on the first or second day after formatting.
Sorry for the wall of text, and thanks for looking.
