DHCP Error in Event Log

an error is registered in even log when the system is started. The message reads

“DHCP Failed To Renew a lease for the card with network address ……… The following error occured: The semaphore time out period has expired”

Note I am still able to log onto the network and still have and ip address. No other protocols are loaded only tcp/ip. I have searched for this in Microsofts Knowledge base and have not been able to find any info.

Anyone have any ideas how to resolve this.
