DHCP scope problem

by rstamper . Updated 24 years, 11 months ago

Why does a workstation not communicate with a network resource when receiving a DHCP address from the DHCP server?

Workstations (NT & 2K) receiving DHCP addresses from the defined DHCP scope for a subnet could not communicate with a particular network resource. If the workstation had a static IP address from the defined scope the resource the problem remained. When a static IP address outside the scope was set the resource would be available. Deleting and rebuilding the scope or moving the scope to a different DHCP server does not help. Setting up a DHCP scope with a different IP range solve the problem. Why?
