DHCP Setup

I’m having a problem with a DHCP issue. I don’t know DHCP very well yet, but am trying to learn. I have a DHCP server that has scopes in both a 255.255.255.192 Subnet and in a 255.255.255.224 Subnet. I have the last subnet in the 224 space open (x.x.x.224-x.x.x.255). I have an address assigned to my DHCP server of x.x.x.226, and have assigned my HP router the address of x.x.x.225. Problem is, I’m having problems communicating with these. Nothing will ping my router, and only the DHCP server will ping itself. Is there a connector somewhere that I’m missing? There are other nets set up in the .224 space on this server, but I didn’t set them up. Could really use some help here!
