Dial Up Cant Establish Connection.

Hi folks,

Let me just say this forum is the best 1 i’ve been 2. I had so many replies to my last question i was quite chuffed! Anyway onto the nitty gritty..

This guy, lets call him.. Bob, is trying to use a dial up modem (yuck). When he tries to dial it will keep trying to dial to establish the connection. Each dial attempt gets pretty far like i’ll hear the squeeling n stuff like its nearly dun, then dial again.

I took the modem home and it worked fine on my computer. He just moved into this house and got another line installed (same number, diff line). My question is, what the? Is it probably just line noise preventing the connection?
