Dial-Up connection help needed

I use dial-up on my laptop and desktop. On my desktop it runs just fine, but on my laptop (running WIN98SE) it loads 1 page and then stops functioning. If I click on a link in that 1 page, I get a server not found error page. I have to disconnect and then connect again to get the page loaded. I then have to do this constantly. It will not normally keep running to load page after page without always disconnecting and reconnecting. Please help me. When I disconnect on the icon, it shows that I am still connected, but will not work without reconeecting. My desktop (running WINXP) from the same phone plug works fine.
