I have a computer running XP Pro SP2 in the home network (acting as a server), with ADSL internet connection.
ICS has been enabled on this server and its NIC is set to 192.168.0.1 default.
All users on the LAN are set to obtain IP address automatically and use 192.168.0.X subnet for ICS. This works fine.
Now, I want to remotely dial-in to the XP server, using modem and phone line, and be able to access the internet through the XP server.
I have set up incoming connection on the XP machine and allowed the users dial-in permission. TCP/IP address assignment to users is set for automatically using DHCP.
Remote user dials-in and connects, but receives the IP address in the range of 169.254.X.X,
and as a result cannot access internet.
How can I get the remote dial-in user to access internet through the XP server?s ADSL connection.
Related ADSL Info:
ADSL is PPP over ATM LLC Encapsulation.
ISP requires ADSL to login and assigns a Dynamic IP address.
ADSL modem is a USB version.
Remote client has Windows 98SE installed.
Thank you.
