Different column lenght

I have a database in SQL Server 7.0 with Windows NT Server 4.0.

I changed a column length from a table using
the design table in the Sql Entreprise Manager.
But when a check this column with system tables and informatin schema views this column has different length.

Any idea in fixing this problem?
