Digital Mouse and Keyboard locked up

Ok – I need help. My daughter dropped her digital mouse and now her entire computer is locked up. If I hold a key down (start button) for 5 seconds – the will come up – I then have to use the arrows to manuver. To make a selection, I have to hold the enter key for 5 seconds. I have rebooted the computer several times. The only thing that is consistent is that the “Compaq Connections” updated it’s security web certificate.

I don’t know what to do to unlock the mouse and keyboard. Any suggestions???
