Dim screen on dropped laptop

Have a Compaq Presario 1920 which was dropped flat on it’s backside edge. Everything works except the screen is barely visible. Very Dark, just barely able to make out what is on the screen. Any suggestions as to whether this can be fixed? or could it be a part is shot.
