Disabling a linksys router’s software

I’m trying to hook-up my PS3 to a network switch instead of a linksys router like it was before. Now the system doesn’t even recognize that it’s connected. I’ve tried restarting everything. The computers that are hooked up to the switch is working fine, and the patch cord is fine. If I hook up the router through the switch the PS3 sees the router and gets an IP address but won’t connect to the internet itself.
