Disabling Administrators Account

I am considering changing the password or actually disabling the built in Administrator’s account and creating a new Admin account to operate in its place as I have had an old network password that is known by too many. What do I need to be aware of if I make this change? My biggest concern is losing sections of our network or clients due to this change. Any information would be appreciated.
