Disconnecting Internet Problem

I’m currently using DSL with a Westell VersaLink modem with an ethernet cable connecting from the modem to my pc. I frequently get disconnected a lot and it ranges from disconnecting every 10 minutes to maybe 3 hours sometimes. Even though I can connect back afterwards, it’s still annoying after a while. I’ve called my internet provider (Verizon) and complained several times and they all said the same thing, “We can’t help you while your internet modem is running fine right now, call us back when your modem disconnects or we won’t be able to help” and by the time that I get through to another operater, my internet is up and running again. So, can anyone help? 🙁
