Disk write error, unable to write to …

Hi
I am working for a small company and on of their PC’s decided to crash with the “blue screen of death” and the follow ing error message:
Disk write error, unable to write to disk in drive C, data or files may be lost.

after recieving this message the PC hangs (its a HP Vectra VE)

I have look in Microsofts Knowledge base and says the cause is conflict between Linksys Etherfast 10/100 NIC and win98 PCI steering.
However, Win95 and NE2000(nic) are on the PC. I have done a clean install(formated)and still get this message. I have also defragged the clean install and have found a few bad sectors. please can someone give me some advice. thanks
