Ditto Max Pro External Drive

Ditto Max has fried its brains – all backups are on tape, some files put on tape using flash file facility. Desperately need to retrieve all files. Degree course work on the tapes plus legal docs. Has anyone any ideas on retrieval or where one can loan/buy new/secondhand Ditto Max- iomega very unhelpful. Web search fruitless All suggestions gratefully received.
