DNS does not display client records

by johndjauch . Updated 17 years, 2 months ago

I have a W23K DNS server that is not displaying host (a) records. Some static records are being displayed. Clients can resolve their DNS names fine (i.e. ping clientname.domain) but the DNS tables do not display the client record. Internet FQDN resolution is working. DHCP is running on the same server and dynamic updates are enabled. The server is a member of the DnsUpdateProxy security group. DNS viewing filters are disabled. DNS is integrated into AD. This is the only DNS server in the domain. SRV records are present. I cannot find any errors in the server or PC event viewers. Clients are mainly XP and 2000. (This is only 1 NT workstation left on the network.) Vista PCs are registering fine. DNS settings in the TCP/IP properties match in regards to registering ?this connection?s addresses in DNS?. I have a test network (w2k3) where the client pc records show up like they are supposed to.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
