DNS Problem

by raantosingh . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

Hai friends,

we have two domain controller in our office, win2000 advanced server(Main) and win2003 server. whenever i am trying to connect new workgroup to win2000 with its own dns(win200) that time i used to get the response as “the domain controller for the domain couldnot be contacted, ensure the domain name is typed correctly”. but the domain name & DNS address everthing is right. At the same time if i connect the same workgroup to win2003 with its own DNS(win2003) it will be connected perfectly, after that i will change the dns as win2000 then i can connect with the win2000 domain. So whenever i want to connect any workgroup to main domain then i used to connect it with win2003 first with its own DNS after that i’ll connect that PC with win2000 with its own DNS.

the second issue is, the win2000 DNS not updating the DNS records dynamically. but the “secure updates” got enabled in the domain.all the machines are
pinging by its ip address but not by name. if we enter the host(A) records manually then we can ping by name.

third one is, we are using static IP for our network. some machines not working with internet with anyone of the particular IPs, but it is working fine with other IPs. we have all winXp clients.

with regards,
Anto R. A.
