DNS server making tons of DNS requests to ISP

Our DNS server is making tons of DNS requests to the ISP…so many that the session-ip limit on our firewall stops internet traffic from inside the customer site. Scanned with trend micro and no virus or malware shown. Scanned with malwarebytes and nothing found. any suggestions?
