DNS Server on Vista

I kinda have a dumb question, but its better to know the answer than keep wondering all the time.

I recently bought a new desktop with Vista Business on it. However, I have a laptop with XP Home on it. I want to set up a DNS server in my home LAN network, and I was wondering if it is possible to set up a DNS server with AD on Vista Business (using dcpromo).

I tried running dcpromo on Vista, and it doesn’t work. Are only Windows servers capable of running DNS/DHCP/AD or can machines like XP and Vista also run those?
