DNS, VPN, URL, IP My Brain Hurts!

This one has a lot of twists and turns so hold on!
A client wants to use dynamic DNS in his network (for his own reasons).

His employees connect via a VPN client through the firewall and are able to access an internal website using the URL (www.whatever.com) but when we they try and access the same page by (external) IP address, it does not work. This is an issue for only some of the users of this network. Other users can resolve both IP and URL without problem. If we enter DNS servers manually they can resolve both.

The server on which the website sits has both a private (10.x.x.x) and a public IP address. The firewall is One-to-One NATing both IP’s to each other.

Anyone have any ideas on how we can use dynamic DNS and still be able to access the website by URL and IP address? I have a feeling that it is a machine configuration issue since only some of his employees are experiencing this issue.

I realize this problem has a lot of variables, but if anyone has any ideas, please respond.

Thanks
Funky
