DNS / WINS Problem

by timothy.sharpe . Updated 22 years, 1 month ago

I have a Windows 2000 AD mixed mode network. Our home office has Windows 2000 DC running DNS and my 5 regional offices are running Windows NT BDCs with WINS. The PCs in all offices, including the home office, get both WINS and DNS as well as IP from a DHCP server. Everything has been working fine for about 8 months and then as of yesterday I can no longer browse my regional office’s PCs or Servers from Network Neighborhood. I can ping them and if I run ‘ping -a ‘ it resolves the name. I cannot see the same PCs or servers in network neighborhood but I was able to a few days ago. Also if I go to Start / Run and type in \\ it fails. I checked the event logs on my DC and there are no errors related to DNS or WINS, actually no errors at all. Any ideas.
