Hi! I’m running an exercise setting up a primary and secondary zone. I’ve followed it step-by-step. On the 2nd computer, I setup a secondary zone..I opened the DNS console and it won’t transfer the zone info from the primary to the secondary. I’ve hit F5, action-refresh, closed and reopened the console. I get the same error message: The DNS server encountered a problem while attempting to load the zone. The transfer of zone data from the master server failed. I’ve checked the properties of the primary and on the transfers tab Allow zone transfers is checked, as well as Only to servers listed on the Name Servers tab. I checked the Name Servers tab, and the secondary is listed there. Also, the secondary has an NS record in the primary DNS window. When I look at the properties of the zone in the console on the secondary server, there’s nothing in the name server tab or the transfer tab. I tried clicking allow transfers, but still nothing. The computers are connected by a hub, and I can ping either one from the other by IP address or it’s name. I have the secondary listed as it’s own preferred server in the TCP properties, as the exercise instructed. Also, on the advanced DNS tab, I added the DNS suffix. I didn’t do this the first time I edited the NIC’s properties, so I rebooted the computer after. Still no go. What am I missing? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
