Does thin client really deliver?

My organisation is considering the use of thin client technology, probably Citrix Metaframe, to replace fat client systems. Having read up on the benefits I find it hard to believe that the savings outweigh the costs. I am also sceptical of the claims that less bandwidth is needed. Please let me know if your implementation produced the expected benefits.
