“DOT” printer port in Win2000??

Does anyone know why when I install a printer using the manufacturer’s CD, it installs in on a DOT port, instead of the LPT1 port?

more importantly, what is a DOT port? Microsoft’s KB is next to impossible when trying to answer this question!
