Double switch socket with Cat5 connection

I am buying a foreclosed house where all appliances and fittings have been removed. In most rooms there is a blank double switch box with a Cat5 or similar plug hanging loose.

Does anyone have an idea what may have been connected to it?

All network wiring connects back to a media box.
