Driver Push via a Network

by darthjohn74 . Updated 23 years, 7 months ago

Does anyone know how to rollout drivers via a network? Here?s the deal: I have about 200 hosts (Win2K) on a Netware 6 LAN over IP and IPX using Zenworks for Desktops 3 SP1. IPX is out the door (yeah!), but the problem is we?re also moving to IPP for our printing solution and most of the host?s NIC drivers are not able to talk to the IPP printers. After troubleshooting the matter we?ve discovered that the NIC drivers need to be updated to the latest manufacturer supplied driver and have the media type set to ?autodetect? (by default it is set to ?hardware default?). Once this is done the host can talk to any IPP printer.

Short of paying a personal visit to each host I would rather push the driver and set the media type remotely (possibly a reg hack?). I?ve thought of the possibility of using a snap shot but I?m a little timid with doing that for hardware since these hosts are not all identical, though the NIC?s are all of the 3C9x flavor.

Any thoughts?
