I have a windows 2003 network. I am having problems accessing the internet. I have sbc yahoo dsl. I have a netgear rp416router (changed ip assress on router) connected to a switch. I was letting the router handle dhcp but I disabled that and have a server handling this.I did this because I was having problems connecting to the internet. The router is updated with latest firmware. I put my internal dns server and the isp dns servers in the router. I put the isp dns servers in “forwarders” on the internal dns server. The dsl modem is a speedstream 5100. I put 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1 as the dns servers on the netgear router. Netgear documentation recommended this for the speedstream 5100. Since my internet address is dynamic, the router is set to get isp address automatically. I have to put a username and password in the router for my isp. Servers and workstations are connected to switch.
I was able to get on the internet from one of my servers. I listed my router as the gateway, but I had to put in the isp’s dns server on the “alternate dns” field of my nic card. I should not have to do this, right???
Anyway I, cannot get on today. Receiving p”age cannot be displayed”. The client computer cannot get to the internet at all.
Getting resources on the internal network is fine. I would appreciate it if someone would tell me what’s wrong with this setup. Thank You.
