Dual Network card

I have new HP proliant server which has triple network card, currently only one is configured. Recently my users are experiencing a freez up when they open or try save to a network drive. We started noticing after we rolled out a program called Revit (Autodesk) product. My qwestion is, is it possible to activate and configure the second nic card (same subnet)to allivate the problem?
