Dual Networking

The computers at my company are networked using a Novell system administered by a corporate headquarters. The machines are either running NT 4.0 Workstation or Windows 95. I want to build a small seperate peer network between a few of the computers.To do this I am planning to install a second NIC into the applicable computers and running separate cable. I do have Admin access to NT machines. Is this possible? Windows NT does not allow me to select a seperate computer and network name for each installed adapter on the computer. Do I have to name each network similarly?
